Press Forward Minnesota Seeks Applicants for Host and Grantmaking Committees

Press Forward Minnesota is accepting applications through July 13 for the next cohort of its Host and Grantmaking Committees, the volunteer bodies that help guide strategy and recommend grant investments in local journalism across the state.

The statewide movement works to re-center local journalism as a force for community cohesion, civic participation, and government accountability, with a focus on racial equity. The initiative is one of a growing number of Press Forward local chapters across the country.

Two years into the initiative, Press Forward Minnesota is building on the momentum of its founding committees, whose members helped shape priorities, review proposals, and direct investments across the state. Press Forward Minnesota thanks its outgoing committee members for their service and now seeks applicants for the next cohort of its Host and Grantmaking Committees.

Host Committee: The Host Committee includes practitioners and funders who provide directional guidance and help set priorities and strategies for Press Forward Minnesota. The committee’s role excludes grant review, grant decisions, and any advisory privileges over the distribution or investment of amounts held in the Press Forward Minnesota Pooled Fund. Learn more about the committee and apply.

Grantmaking Committee: The Grantmaking Committee includes people with relevant experience, such as local journalism knowledge and grantmaking expertise. MCF will engage the Grantmaking Committee to review proposals and recommend grant decisions. Membership excludes donors to the Press Forward Minnesota Pooled Fund and anyone a donor appoints or designates. Learn more about the committee and apply.

Applications open June 17 and close July 13, 2026.
